The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates against accepting admission offers outside its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), stating that such offers may not be recognised as valid.

JAMB issued the warning in a post on X on Monday, advising prospective students to check their admission status on CAPS before accepting any admission offer.

According to the board, accepting admission outside the approved process could put candidates’ academic journeys at risk and create complications with their admission records and related processes.

The warning was issued while promoting an episode of its JAMB Explained series, which examines illegal admission, its consequences and how candidates can protect themselves.

JAMB also advised candidates to verify their admission status before accepting any offer.

Why Candidates Must Check Their Admission on JAMB CAPS

According to JAMB, CAPS was developed to automate the admission process into tertiary institutions.

The platform allows candidates to check their admission status and accept or reject provisional admission offers. It also enables institutions to process admissions through the approved system.

JAMB also warned that candidates who accept admission outside CAPS do so at their own risk, adding that it will neither recognise such admissions nor condone them.
